Backstory
On the way back to my hotel from Osaka station during a Typhoon, my GPS wasn’t working right. I walked around in a small circle a few times to try and figure out which way was the right direction. Before I could figure it out on my own, I was approached by two young women who decided to help me.
They took my phone from me and guided me to the right direction. … All the way to my hotel.
Along the way the umbrella they were sharing got flipped inside out and broke. The three of us continued along under the same umbrella for the rest of the trip.
In the end I bought them a new umbrella and went back to my hotel. The girls told me they had no money to get back home on the train, but they also refused to let me buy them tickets, which would have been about 1,000 yen each.
This story isn’t as funny as it is strange and unusual. Either way, I am thankful for their company and help in getting home and making my trip a little more interesting.
